Barrie Real Estate News

The “Gateway to Cottage Country” is also becoming an entry point into the housing market for many first-time homebuyers, a Canadian real estate website says.

Zoocasa has released an in-depth report on Barrie’s real estate market, and results show most of the city is affordable for a typical family living in the region. Barrie homes sold for an average of $494,488 in March, compared to $830,043 in the Toronto area. In fact, 10 of the city’s 11 main neighbourhoods can be classified as “affordable” for buyers earning the region’s median household income of $77,904, Barrie Zoocasa real estate agent Isabel Fonseca said.

Only Innishore, a stretch that extends between Kempenfelt Bay and the municipality’s southern boundary, generally requires income above the median.
